The Minister of Water and Energy, Hon. Dr. Habtamu Itefa, and the State Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Asfaw Dingamo, led a high-level delegation to inspect the progress of the Awash 7 Water Supply and Sanitation Project in the Afar Region.

The delegation included representatives from various federal institutions of the FDRE, the Afar Regional Water Bureau, and the Research and Design team. The visit aimed to assess the current status of the project and ensure timely completion of the remaining work.

During the inspection, the dignitaries emphasized the critical importance of the project in improving access to clean drinking water for the local population. They issued a directive to the contractor, BIGETA Business Plc., to expedite the completion of the outstanding components—specifically the electro-mechanical installations and reservoir fitting connections—within a short timeframe.
The officials underscored the urgency of commencing water service delivery to the public, reaffirming the government’s commitment to enhancing water infrastructure and public health in underserved regions.
